FEAST OF THE DIVINE MERCY 3-DAY RETREAT BY REV. FR. DR ANTONY PARANKIMALIL VC [06-08 APRIL 2026]

An Invitation to the Feast of Divine Mercy 2026

Church of the Divine Mercy, Shah Alam | 6–12 April 2026

There are moments in the liturgical year that gently call us to pause, reflect, and return—moments when grace feels especially near. The Feast of Divine Mercy is one such moment.

This April, the Church of the Divine Mercy, Shah Alam warmly invites all—families, young adults, parishioners, and friends—to come together for a week of prayer, renewal, and quiet encounter with God’s mercy.

The celebrations begin with a 3-day retreat (6–8 April 2026) led by Rev. Fr. Dr Antony Parankimalil VC, Director of Divine Retreat Centre, Rwanda setting the tone for a deeper spiritual journey in the days leading to the Feast.

A 3-Day Retreat: Encounter, Calling, and Mission

The retreat unfolds as a journey—moving from personal encounter to purposeful mission.

06 April 2026
Day 01 - Running from the Empty Tomb: Witnesses of Mercy in a Doubting World

We begin at the empty tomb, where uncertainty meets hope. In a world often marked by doubt, this opening session invites us to rediscover the quiet yet powerful presence of the Risen Christ in our own lives.

07 April 2026
Day 02 - Called by Name: Sent Forth as Apostles of Mercy

God knows, calls, and entrusts each of us with a purpose. This evening, we reflect on our identity as people of mercy, recognising how Jesus sends us to bring compassion, healing, and light into our daily relationships and responsibilities.

08 April 2026
Day 03 - Hearts Burning, Eyes Opened Sharing Mercy on the Road

The journey to Emmaus inspires us and reminds us that genuine encounter leads to transformation. As we renew our hearts, we receive an invitation to step forward with courage—to live and share mercy in the world around us.

Each evening includes:

7:00 PM – Holy Hour

8:00 PM – Divine Mercy Novena

8:30 PM – Mass

"How To Wait Upon Our Lord" by Fr. Michael Payyapilly VC-Advent 2023

In this Eucharistic talk, "How To Wait Upon the Lord"  live-streamed today, on "25 Days in Preparation of Christmas-Day 19"Fr. Michael Payyapilly VC, Director -Divine Retreat Centre, Colombo, Sri Lanka, wisdom-filled sharing inspires every Catholic  to wait upon the Lord as Prophet Simeon did.

"It was not a desperate wait. Rather it was a 'wait' that turned into a virtue."

"Simeon was a holy and righteous man who waited for the Glory of the Lord to be seen. He was promised by the Holy Spirit he would see the salvation of his people before he died. It was not an easy wait as it was without any timeframe and he was already very old. But Simeon waited in faith."

"Waiting when it is inspired by the Holy Spirit  is always a moment of growth."

"How do I keep still? How long should I wait? How much more should I wait?"

This blessed Advent reflection on how we should wait upon our Lord is timely and heart-provoking,

"How Do I Treasure Jesus?" by Fr. Michael Payyapilly VC

The Feast of St. Francis Xavier is celebrated on 03 Dec.

Fr. Michael Payyapilly VC, Director of Divine Retreat Centre Colombo, Sri Lanka challenges each of us in this heart-provoking homily, - "HOW DO I TREASURE Jesus?".

As we start our Advent in this new liturgical year, this is most timely to search our hearts for the Light & Love of Jesus to be the greatest treasure in our lives - and to live passionately for Jesus.

Fr. Michael asks, "Do we have the passion to proclaim Jesus to the world?"; "Is my passion for Jesus aflame in my heart  as it was in St. Francis Xavier's heart?"; "How do I treasure Jesus?"

St. Francis Xavier was one of the first Jesuits (Society of Jesus founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola) - in fact he was the first Jesuit missionary and is considered the greatest missionary since the Apostles.

St Francis Xavier brought the Catholic faith to Goa, India and then to Kerala, India to restore the vibrancy of the Catholic faith that was introduced by St. Thomas the Apostle. From there, he sailed to Malacca, Malaysia; to Japan and finally to the small island of Shanghau, China where he became ill and passed away on 03 December 1552. A great feat of evangelization in 10 years!

St, Francis Xavier is the patron saint of all foreign missions. He is known as the "Apostle of the Indies" and the "Apostle of Japan".

"Who Am I?" by Fr. Michael Payyapilly V.C.

This video, "WHO AM I?", by Fr. Michael Payyapilly V.C., Director of Divine Retreat Centre, Colombo, Sri Lanka is a timely reflection as we begin our New Year - 2023. "'Who am I?' That is a question we all need to ask ourselves.

"It is easy to give my name, or the place or country I am from or the state I come from." "When I ask it to myself, it is a far deeper question, It is about my identity - not just what I have on earth but my identity in the Light of Christ."

"Who am I?"

As we continue our faith journey into this New Year, may this Spirit-filled homily by Fr. Michael on 02 January 2023 help us reflect on this important question.

The fifth video of this series is "THE FORGIVENESS OF JESUS IS FAR GREATER THAN OUR SINS". This Divine Australia talk was live-streamed in August 2020. Fr. Michael's heart-warming sharing assures each of us of the amazing Healing Power of Christ's Forgiveness.

“Know that Jesus, the Crucified Jesus forgives you and you need to forgive yourself. Don’t live in guilt. That guilt is not from God and Jesus does not want us to live in guilt. Every time that guilt takes control of our hearts, think of the Crucified Saviour. The forgiveness of Jesus is far greater than the sins we have committed. So hold on to the Crucified Lord!”

Next Sunday (03 April 2022), Fr. Michael will share the Word of God on “THE HEART TO SHARE A PRAYER".

Lenten Series 2022 [Video 2]-"GOD's MESSAGE OF GRACE I NEED" by Fr. Micharl Payappilly V.C.

The sacred season of Lent is a season of grace for us to deepen our relationship with God. This year, the Friends of Divine 8-part, DRAW NEAR TO JESUS LENTEN 2022 WEEKLY VIDEO REFLECTION series is a compilation of spiritual talks by Fr. Michael Payyapilly V.C.. over the past year.

The second video of this series is "GOD's MESSAGE OF GRACE I NEED." This Divine Australia talk was live-streamed in March 2021. Fr, Michael''s issues a holy challenge for each of us to act upon in our lives - "We all need joy and grace in our spiritual journey. If spirituality is not joyful, then our spirituality is pretty much dead. Lent is a time when we are in union with God. A time when we are opening our ears to listen to God's voice. God's voice will always have something to speak to us so that there will be a conversion of heart. God's voice is never sent out without a purpose. Jesus' words are always directed to our hearts."

"The message of grace will always disturb. Be ready if you want God's Message of Grace, be ready to be disturbed. If you are feeling very comfortable with God's messages, then there is something wrong with our spiritual journey.

Next Sunday (13 March 2022), Fr. Michael will share the Word of God on  “OUR CHOUCE-DARKNESS OR LIGHT."

Please do share this Friends of Divine Lenten 2022 Weekly Video Reflection series with your loved ones, prayer groups, and friends to make this holy season of Lent a  transforming experience in our Christian life.

WEEK 4: "ARE YOU PREPARED?" by Fr. Michael Payyapilly V.C.

There are many anointed Lenten online talks and retreats currently. This year, the Friends of Divine 7-part, OUR FAITH JOURNEY WITH JESUS 2021 WEEKLY VIDEO REFLECTION series is a compilation of talks by Fr. Michael Payyapilly V.C.. Parish Priest of Holy Family Church, Doveton, Australiover the past year of how our personal relationship with God must grow and not stay stagnant.

The fourth video of the 7-part OUR FAITH JOURNEY WITH JESUS 2021 WEEKLY VIDEO REFLECTION SERIES is "ARE YOU PREPARED?" Fr Michael challenges each of us "It is sad that at the Second Coming of Our Lord which is the End Times, many are in fear. Maybe it is because many of us are concentrating on the wrong things."

"Jesus' emphasis on the End Times is not on tomorrow. It is always on today - now! It is not about when He will come. It is, ' Am I prepared whenever it is? Am I prepared today? I cannot have a conversion tomorrow if I don't have a conversion now. Is my life worthy of God today?'"

"We are busy thinking of when the End Times are...if you spend that time preparing your heart to make the Light shine there - isn't that what Jesus wants of us every day?"

"Today if you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. (Hebrews 4:7)"

Divine Australia live-streamed this homily in Oct 2020.

Next Sunday Fr. Michael will proclaim the Word of God on"THE CROSS OF JESUS IS MY  PERSONAL FORGIVENESS STORY."

WEEK 1: "GOD'S GIFT OF THE JOURNEY" by Fr. Michael Payyapilly V.C. - [Our Faith Journey With Jesus Series]

The season of Lent is a sacred time to examine our hearts as Catholics how we will sincerely repent with Prayers, Almsgiving and Fasting to reconcile our lives with Jesus. How do we do that? How can we do so? Why should Jesus be the centre of our lives? Until we examine our heart and mind to be holy and godly, our faith journey with Jesus will remain stunted and our lives will have anxiety, worries and fears. From a worldly life, we need to strive for a Christ-centred life.

As of today, I will post a weekly spiritual video talk by Fr. Michael every Sunday on this Friends of Divine blog until Maundy Thursday. The 7-part OUR FAITH JOURNEY WITH JESUS 2021 WEEKLY VIDEO REFLECTION SERIES is to help each of us to examine our personal relationship with Jesus. Am I growing in faith spiritually to a deeper, loving and mission-focussed life for God?

The first video of this series is "GOD"S GIFT OF THE JOURNEY".This Divine Australia video premiered in May 2020. Fr, Michael wisely reminds us, "more than the destination, it is about our journey with Jesus" that truly matters. We are pilgrims on this earth. Our journey on earth must lead each of us to Heaven.

Next Sunday Fr. Michael will be sharing the Word of God on “I NEED TO PERMIT JESUS INTO MY LIFE,"

Please do share this Friends of Divine Lenten 2021 Weekly Video Reflection series with your loved ones, prayer groups and friends to make this sacred season of Lent a truly transforming experience in our Christian life.
